Next Apple flagship suddenly starts taking shape

Apple is pushing for an unexpected product.

Update: 2019-08-01 09:15 GMT
The buyer group, which includes Taiwanese flat screen maker TPK Holding and Chinese investment firm Harvest Group, had planned to formalize the investment decisions by mid-June.

After news broke recently about Apple preparing a 16-inch MacBook Pro, fresh specifications have been leaked and with it, we finally see Apple’s next flagship laptop taking shape. The 16-inch display is said to feature in a laptop frame that’s no larger than a 15-inch MacBook Pro and it will feature smaller bezels and the monstrous display is said to occupy your field of vision.

As per a report by MacRumors, “The report suggests that the narrow bezels will allow for the 16-inch MacBook Pro to be roughly the same overall size as the current 15-inch model. Taiwanese contract manufacturer Quanta Computer is expected to assemble the notebook, according to the unnamed supply chain sources cited. Multiple reports have claimed the 16-inch display will be supplied by LG and have a resolution of 3072×1920 pixels.”

The next obvious question is when will Apple launch this MacBook Pro and will they have a separate launch event for it?

As of now, there are reports circulating which claim that Apple will not be upgrading its entire portfolio of MacBooks. Further updates to the MacBook Pro 13  and MacBook Pro 15 are said to be taking place sometime in 2020. These updates will include the addition of the butterfly keyboard. This could mean that Apple will launch the MacBook Pro 16 as a sole device and not alongside any other laptops.

Forbes reports, “Given Apple’s focus on the iPhone and iPad in the second half of the year, that would likely put paid to a MacBook Pro event at some point in October. While it could be tied into an iPad or iPad Pro launch, why would Tim Cook push a tablet as the future of computing, and then wheel out a laptop? Even presented the other way around, the iPad would drown out the MacBook Pro.”

In all probability, Apple will not launch this MacBook Pro along with the next iPhone 11 as they would not want it sharing in the spotlight. This could mean that the MacBook Pro could make a silent debut just like this year’s iPad mini and 2nd generation AirPods.
