FiiO unveils M7 lossless music player with USB Type-C port
The M7 is the successor to the M3 and is available online in Black, Silver and Red.
The market for portable music players may not be as big as they once were but with brands such as Apple still selling their iPods and people still purchasing PMPs for the sole purpose of music playback, we find brands still launching products that aim to capture a buyer’s attention. One such brand is FiiO and this Chinese based audio company have a stellar reputation for launching products that tick the checkboxes of what a person wants in a portable music player.
FiiO has recently unveiled the M7 music player in India and it comes with the unique feature of sporting a USB Type-C port. This new USB standard is pretty rare on music devices and the M7 will employ the port for charging syncing music, and music playback over USB-C headphones or earphones.
FiiO says, “We at FiiO spent a lot of time investigating what users actually wanted from their digital audio player and finally came up with an exterior design that we think you will fall in love with. Try resisting that sexy fully aluminium body and all glass front!”
The FiiO M7 features a Samsung Exynos 7270 SoC with ESS Sabre 9018 chip that promises good sound quality. The M7 uses a Samsung Bluetooth 4.2 chip which supports aptX-HD and LDAC audio codecs where Bluetooth audio it transmits 3 times the data thereby giving it a superior audio quality. This media player is certified by Japan Audio Association to be truly capable of ‘Hi-Res Audio.’
The FiiO M7 comes equipped with a 3.2-inch display that sports a resolution of 480 x 800 with image zooming support with a gesture system to get around different menus. It comes with 2GB of storage and can be expanded up to 512GB more using a micro SD card. The M7’s standard 3.5mm headphone output supports CTIA standard in-line controls it also has a line-out function, which allows you to hook your device up to external amplifiers. The M7 supports up to 192kHz/ 24-bit PCM audio. As for audio file formats, among the supported are APE/ WAV/ FLAC/ AIF/ DSD/ M4A/ WMA/ OGG/ AAC/ ALAC/ MP3 as well as CUE codec and others. It also supports USB audio digital output by pairing with FiiO Q5 / Q1MKII through USB or Bluetooth.
The FiiO M7 goes on sale in India for a price of Rs 19,990 and will be available in 3 colours — Black, Silver and Red.
