Reliance Jio eyes laptop segment, to make Apple MacBook-like devices

Reliance Jio seems to be eyeing the next frontier beyond smartphones.

Reliance Jio is positively making many headlines these for its bumper offers – not only in the network segment but also for offering cheap-but-good-quality smartphones. Now, it appears like the Mukesh-Ambani led telecom giant is eyeing the laptop industry and desires like make Apple MacBook-like laptops for its consumers.

In an online report by PhoneRadar, the company is working on a new Jio-powered laptop similar to Apple’s 13.30inch MacBook Air (design-wise). On the specifications front, the new Reliance Jio laptop is rumoured to pack 13.3-inches full-HD display with 16:9 aspect ratio, 4G support and HD camera for video calling. Moreover, the device is expected to feature a magnesium alloy body and not have a cooling fan.

The laptop will most probably be powered by a quad-core Intel Premium processor with 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 64GB eMMC storage along with it. On the connectivity front, the laptop will pack 4G, LTE, Bluetooth, HDMI port, 2 USB ports and a micro SD card slot.

Just a few days ago, Reliance Jio extended the deadline of its Prime membership to April 15 and has further waived monthly charges for the next three months under its ‘Surprise Summer’ offer.
