Kingston unveils new UV500 SSD products
The UV500 is powered by the Marvell 88SS1074 controller combined with 3D NAND Flash.
Kingston has unveiled its UV500 family line of SSD products that are available in multiple form factors. The UV500 will be Kingston’s first 3D NAND-enabled SSD featuring full-disk encryption. UV500 is powered by the Marvell 88SS1074 controller and combined with 3D NAND Flash, which promises to deliver read/write speeds of up to 520Mbps and 500Mbps, making it 10x faster than a 7200RPM hard drive. All form factors of the new SSD family are available with MRPs of Rs 5,850, Rs 10,250 and Rs 19,450 for 120GB, 240GB and 480GB variants respectively.
The company claims that with UV500 it had improved system’s overall responsiveness with a faster boot, loading and transfer times. UV500 promises to protect sensitive data with 256-bit AES hardware-based encryption and supports TCG Opal 2.0. It is available in three different form factors (2.5-inch, M.2 2280 and mSATA) to accommodate any client system. UV500 primary storage options are available in 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 960GB and 1920GB capacities.
In terms of speeds, the sequential read and write speeds on the 120GB drive manages up to 520/320Mbps and goes all the way up to 520/500Mbps for the larger 1.92TB variant. And for the maximum 4K read/write speeds, the 120GB goes up to 79,000/18,000 IOPS, all the way up to 79,000/50,000 IOPS 1.92TB variant. The drives consume the power of 1.17W for reading and 2.32W for writing accordingly.
