Thomson launches new range of smart TVs in India

The French consumer electronics manufacturer has launched three smart TV models in the country.

If you are in the market for a smart TV, then you are in for a treat. After some heated action in the affordable smart TV segment by established players such as Vu and Xiaomi, Thomson, which is owned by France’s Technicolor, has introduced its latest range of smart TVs for the Indian market. The TVs are available in 32, 40 and 43-inch sizes. They start from Rs 13,490 for the base model and go up to Rs 27,999 for the 3inch variant. The TVs will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Starting with the 43-inch 4K model, it carries a price tag of Rs 27,999. The TV offers an IPS panel with a 4K resolution along with HDR support. Since it’s a smart TV, it utilises Android 4.4.4 as its OS and is built around a 1.4GHz dual-core chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage. There are two 10W speakers for catering to the audio requirements. Connectivity options include 1x RF port, 1x AV port, 3x HDMI ports, 1x Component port, 2x USB ports, 1x RJ45 port, 1x SPDIF port, 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, 1x SD card slot and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.

The 40-inch model comes for Rs 19,990 and sports a full-HD panel with a peak brightness of 450 nits. There’s Android 5.0 as its OS, along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage.. The TV is built around a Cortex-A53 processor coupled with a Mali T720MP2 GPU. It also sports two 10W speakers for managing the audio departments. The 40-inch model offers 1x RF port, 1x AV port, 3x HDMI ports, 1x Component port, 2x USB ports, 1x RJ45 port, 1x SPDIF port, 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, 1x SD card slot and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi for connectivity.

The 32-inch model is an entry-level offering, carrying a price of Rs 13,490. It sports an HD screen with a peak brightness of 450 nits. Along with Android 5.0 Lollipop, there’s a Cortex-A53 processor coupled with a Mali T720MP2 GPU accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage. The TV renders a total audio output of 20W. Connectivity options include 1x RF port, 1x AV port, 3x HDMI ports, 1x Component port, 2x USB ports, 1x RJ45 port, 1x SPDIF port, 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, an SD card slot and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity.
