Netgear launches Nighthawk Pro gaming Wi-Fi router

Netgear has launched new Nighthawk Pro gaming Wi-Fi router (XR500) with a new software that claims to optimise network connections by stabilising ping, reducing lag spikes, and keeping the user reliable wired and wireless connectivity for advanced online gameplay.
The Nighthawk includes hardware features such as a dual-core 1.7GHz processor that offers support for 4K streaming, VR gaming and surfing. A Quad-stream Wave 2 WiFi with MU-MIMO and four external high-power antennas wrapped up in a formidable enclosure. In terms of memory, the router features 256MB of flash and 512MB of RAM.
The gaming router includes features such as Gaming Dashboard on a single screen, which showcases real-time bandwidth utilisation by the device, ping delays, and many other parameters. The Geo Filter feature claims to fix the gaming lag by limiting distance to servers or other players, get a guaranteed local connection, and create black/white lists of preferred servers. The Quality of Service (QoS) prioritises gaming devices and allocates bandwidth by the device that promises to eliminate lag due to queuing at the ISP network. Gaming VPN helps to protect network identity and in preventing a DDoS attack, and also use the VPN client to connect to the VPN server.
The router's Network Monitor feature claims to check on bandwidth-hogging devices and identify the applications which could be causing a lag. The Nighthawk's Gigabit Ethernet ports promise to maximise speed with four GbE LAN ports for wired connections, for fast-paced gaming and high-quality streaming.
