With the meteoric rise in e-Sports worldwide, with prize pools running into the millions of dollars, it was inevitable that sooner rather than later, the craze would spread to India. India has seen a healthy increase in both the number of e-Sports tournaments being organised as well as the prize pool.
Enter, The Clan Wars: War for Pride. In its fifth season, this is one of the longest-running e-Sports events in the country and this year, Cyber Gaming Enterprises is organising six qualifiers across February and March in four cities with a grand total of Rs 1.5 lakh up for grabs for Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The first of the qualifiers will be held in Mumbai on February 21, followed by Kolkata on the 24th, Delhi on the 28th and finally, in Bengaluru on March 11 and 12.
Teams who feel their Counter Strike Global: Offensive skills are up to par and wish to compete for dominance may make their way to the venues in the cities for the qualifiers, but for those who can’t there will also be two sets of online qualifiers on dedicated servers. The finale will happen on March 13, in Bengaluru, where the qualified teams will meet together for the final showdown. The entry fee for the tournament is just Rs 1,000 for LAN qualifiers and Rs 500 for online qualifiers.
The prize pool split is Rs 80,000, for first place, Rs 40,000 for second place, Rs 20,000 for third place and Rs 10,000 for fourth place. Clan Wars has grown over the past few years and has attracted a lot of attention and big tech companies in India have signed up to support the event
