Airtel goes against Jio; offers 84GB 4G data and unlimited calls at Rs 399

The new Rs 399 plan comes with 84GB of data for 84 days and also offers free unlimited local and STD calling.

Airtel has over 275 million mobile customers across India, of which approximately 93.7 per cent are pre-paid.

Airtel has rolled out a new plan for it’s consumers that offer data and free voice calls like Reliance Jio. The new Rs 399 plan comes with 84GB of data for 84 days and also offers free unlimited local and STD calling. Users will get 1GB data for a day.

The plan will go against the likes of Reliance Jio’s Rs 399 plan that offers 1GB of 4G data for 84 days and unlimited voice calling to all networks. In addition the users also get free access to all Jio apps.

Vodafone has also rolled out a similar plan that offers 1GB data and unlimited calling for 84 days for Rs 352. BSNL also offers a plan at Rs 298 that offers unlimited voice calls and unlimited data for Rs 56 days. The FUP limit is 1GB a day post which the speed reduces to 80kbps. However, the plan is only available on the first recharge.

Airtel is said to be planning to launch a Rs 2,500 phone to go against the JioPhone. Airtel is believed to be in talks with Lava and Karbonn for manufacturing the phone.
