Apple acquires Canadian software startup Buddybuild to woo app developers

Cupertino tech giant Apple seems to have added one more feather to its cap. The Canadian software startup Buddybuild has reportedly been recently acquired by Apple. The news was confirmed by the Buddybuild on its official blog, no official statement about the same has been issued by Apple.

TechCrunch reported that the acquisition will apparently make the process more convenient for developers to create newer apps for Apple’s mobile and tablet platforms. Buddybuild is an app tools startup which focuses not only on continuous integration and debugging tools but also app development.

The Buddybuild blogpost, which confirmed the acquisition, read: “We’re excited to share that the buddybuild team has joined the Xcode engineering group at Apple to build amazing developer tools for the entire iOS community. We’ve always been proud to be a Canadian company, so we’re also pleased that we will be staying right here in Vancouver — a hotbed of developer and engineering talent.”

The post also apparently states that their service will remain available to existing customers but the company will refrain from accepting new customers soon. The startup also plans to discontinue the free starter plans and future app developments from March 1, 2018.
