Integrate your Skype account with Aadhaar number for secure connections
The video calling service's designed-for-India app requires Aadhar for identity verification purposes.
The Indian government’s ambitious Digital India initiative is aiming to bring a revolution to the governance of one of the world’s largest economies. To eradicate the issues of corruption, the government has made it compulsory to link your Aadhaar number with your bank account, your PAN card and your mobile phone number too. To help the government pursue its ambition of a digital India, Microsoft has also provided the option to add Aadhaar number to your Skype account via the Skype Lite app.
Users can verify their identities at the beginning of a video call by requesting Aadhaar verification. To confirm their identity, the user has to click on ‘Verify Aadhaar identity’. Following that, they have to enter their Aadhaar number. There will be a one-time password (OTP) for authentication. Once validated, they can choose to share the Aadhaar information with the other person to confirm their identity.
The benefit will be for those users participating in job interviews through Skype via the Skype Lite app. For those concerned with the security of the data, Microsoft assures that the Redmond giant wouldn’t store an individual’s Aadhaar number.
