Qualcomm has unveiled its next generation flagship mobile technology – the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has already confirmed that its flagship Mi 7 will have the Snapdragon 845 SoC at its heart.

Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, with Cristiano Amon, the head of Qualcomm's chip business announced the news at Qualcomm tech summit.

While the Mi 7 is the first announced device to use the latest chip, other major device makers such as Samsung, OnePlus and LG will join the troop soon.

Qualcomm didn’t reveal much about the latest processor but said Samsung’s foundry business will be manufacturing the chip.

Qualcomm counts Samsung, Apple and other major brands as its customers, but is still struggling to survive as it is facing a fierce legal battle with Apple.
