Youtube has finally launched a separate category for fashion and beauty related content on its website. Called Slash Fashion, it aims to ‘create an ultimate destination for style content that bridges both YouTube’s fabulous endemic creator community and the more traditional worlds of fashion and beauty’ said Derek Blasberg, its Director of Fashion through a post on YouTube’s official blog.
The numbers of channels on Youtube related to Fashion and Beauty have grown over 6 times between 2014 and 2018 the blog further claimed and justified its new addition.
Its new Fashion and Beauty category, would add on to its earlier initiative to add AR make-up trials on Youtube, improving the experience of consuming beauty related content on the website. Now under Slash Fashion, a one-stop-shop for everything fashion and beauty on the platform could be provided.
The website’s blog mentions that content ranging from make-up tutorials and interviews of models to live streams of actual fashion shows shall be hosted at the new webpage. Excited about the launch, Blasberg further adds that he wants to make the space diverse and inclusive and that they would be working towards bringing more international voices to the page and localizing for global markets, in the coming months.
