After an investigation found Amazon was selling school supplies, including lunch boxes, pencil pouches, and necklaces, with illegal levels of toxic metals such as lead and cadmium, Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has ordered the e-commerce giant to stop such sales.

As the official release notes, Amazon entered into a nationwide legally binding agreement to block the sale of children's school supplies and jewellery without affirmation from lab reports about the products being non-toxic. Metal in children's products can lead to a number of neurological disorders.

Amazon has also been ordered to pay the Attorney General's Office USD 700,000, which will be used to fund future environmental protection efforts.
