Facebook first unveiled its Events app on iOS back in October. Two months later, the social media giant has launched an Android version of the same. The Events app allows users to browse through nearby happenings, stay notified regarding alerts and so on. The company’s intentions with this app were to declutter the company’s main app.

The app hasn’t been able to gain much popularity amongst iOS users. According to App Annie, the app kept oscillating between 250 and 500 on the US social networking apps chart. However, like mentioned previously, massive usage was never the goal. “The app is designed to help Facebook’s extroverts and event promoters better discover and manage events. That trickles down to a better experience for everyone else as these users invite friends to events using Facebook,” reported TechCrunch.
