Android Wear hasn’t been in the market lately, and the name also doesn’t actually describe that as an OS. Google might be thinking the same about the Android Wear and might also be planning to change its name to Wear OS. Or this may also be a major revamp, which the company can be planning under the hood and changing the name seems to be the initial step after all.

Even though major brands like Fossil and LG still rely on Android Wear, there isn’t any substantial popularity especially in the wearable department from Android Wear. And to gain the heat and exceed in this area Google seems to follow the footsteps of Apple since WatchOS branding is the widely received OS of the company globally.

Google WearOS spotted by Reddit User

According to a Reddit user, who happened to notice this name change in Google’s recently released Android P preview last week. The user actually noticed the new Google Assistant themed WearOS logo after installing the Android P preview and pairing his watch. He says that the Wear OS was mentioned in the Google Play Services package and seems to be in a beta version.

However, not much information is available right now as it is only in beta and the company also didn’t mention about any revamps in the already existing Android Wear. So, we still have to wait and expect that this isn’t only a re-branding but a full revamp of Google to up the wearable space. We can expect more from the Google I/O event, which is scheduled for May 8th this year.
