Facebook and its related services including WhatsApp and Instagram faced global outage over the last 24 hours. As its services as back, the social networking giant has denied any DDoS (denial of service) attack as the cause behind the outage.

While acknowledging the outage, Facebook confirmed that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack, Fast Company reported. Such an issue occurs when an attacker floods a network with traffic to overload and shut it down.

Meanwhile, Telegram benefited from Facebook’s agony. The secure messaging service reportedly added three million new users when the social networking giant and its family of apps were struggling with the outage.
