Hike's wallet, however, is the first such service by a messaging platform in the country and comes ahead of a possible launch of a payment facility by Facebook-owned WhatsApp later this year.

Popular messaging platform Hike has rolled out new social features for groups integrated within the app.

The new ‘Vote’ feature will enable users to create a poll within the group chat with a single tap. The ‘Bill Split’ feature allows users to share the bills with their friends on the group via Hike Wallet.

"Our new features will make sharing much easier within the group and raise the fun and productivity quotient. We believe that this could be a key driver for groups to come together," Vishwanath Ramarao, CTO, Hike Messenger, said in a statement.

Previously, Hike Messenger also rolled out ‘explore’ for its users. Explore is a single stream of content where users can find everything from your daily news to cricket updates. Unifying multiple microcaps on Hike, it is a nifty feature which gives users a full experience of all of these together through a single entry point on your chat screen.
