Qualcomm unveils new processor faster than the Snapdragon 855

The Snapdragon 855 plus is basically an overclocked and optimised Snapdragon 855.

If you thought your recent flagship featuring the Snapdragon 855 is the fastest device out there, then prepare to be disappointed. Qualcomm has again outdone itself by launching a new chipset. The Snapdragon 855 plus is basically an overclocked and optimised Snapdragon 855.

The 855 plus, or 855+, boasts of higher CPU and GPU performance. The bump in GPU performance is the biggest feature on the new chipset. The Adreno 640 is clocked high enough to deliver a 15 per cent increase in performance.

The CPU cores on the 855 plus are boosted from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz, delivering a four per cent increase in performance.

The newer chipset sticks with the X24 LTE modem and can be connected to an external X50 modem optionally for 5G support.

The first phone to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 plus would most likely be the ASUS ROG Phone II. Read more on that here.
