Why the Moto Razr 2019 could cost more in India
After the US launch last week, Motorola confirmed that the phone is coming to the Indian Market as well.
The Moto Razr 2019 is one of the most exciting devices of the year. The device mixes modern tech with age-old practicality to produce a device with medium level specs, but great fantastic usability. However, one striking aspect of the new Moto Razr is the USD 1,500 price tag. While it may appear expensive, it still is the cheapest of the three foldable phones available in the market, amongst the Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X.
Launch in India
After the US launch last week, Motorola confirmed that the phone is coming to the Indian Market as well. While no exact launch date is up yet, global registrations are up since the global launch. Motorola’s ‘coming soon to India’ could refer to a late December launch during the festive season.
This means that the first Indian buyers could see their Moto Razrs by early 2020. Motorola could also use the CES 2020 timeframe in early January to launch the Moto Razr in India, which would by the time, be a solid alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Price of Moto Razr
The global price of the Moto Razr is USD 1500, which roughly translates to Rs 1,08,000. However, the actual price of the phone in India when it launches could be more. The smartphone will likely not be made in India, so bringing assembled phones to the country will incur import duties and taxes. Chances are the phone will cost a good Rs 30,000 more than the international price, bringing the total amount of the phone to about Rs 1,40,000.
This could of course change if the company eventually sets up manufacturing of the phone in the country.
