Tesla to donate $37.5 million for education in Nevada

The rating for the Model 3, which is lower priced than earlier Tesla models and aimed at giving the Silicon Valley automaker mass market appeal, was part of magazine's annual survey of new vehicle reliability.

Tesla officials say a $1.5 million grant is only the beginning of their investment in K-12 education in Nevada.

The Nevada Appeal reports Tesla officials announced at a state Board of Education meeting Thursday that Tesla plans to contribute $37.5 million to education in Nevada over the next five years.

Gov. Brian Sandoval says the funding will provide more Nevada students with access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education.

Tesla’s Chief Technology Officer J.B. Straubel says he expect the demand for jobs in those fields to grow dramatically in the state over the next few years.

With Tesla model's selling at good a pace, especially the Model S, the company seems to be moving briskly towards taking over the electric car market the world over, The Model S has now become one of the highest selling luxury sedan cars in the US, outperforming old brands such as Audi and Mercedes. The same car has been doing commendable in the Chinese market as well.
