It is quite common to see bug bounty programs pop up every now and then by companies looking to quickly iron out any bugs in their code to offer the end-users a smooth and seamless experience. Google has now gone one up and declared that the company will pay up to USD 1.5 million, or over Rs 10 crore to anyone who can hack a Pixel smartphone.

Google mentioned in a blog post that “Today, we’re expanding the program and increasing reward amounts. We are introducing a top prize of USD 1 million for a full chain remote code execution exploit with persistence which compromises the Titan M secure element on Pixel devices.

The enterprise-grade security chip Titan M found on the Pixel devices is built to secure sensitive data on the device and operating system. The chip is marked as the strongest chipset in terms of in-built security.

Google is also offering other rewards for individuals who can hack or point out flaws in developer versions of the Android OS.

The company has awarded over 1800 reports in the last four years, since it started its bug bounty programme, paying over USD 4 million to bug bounty hunters.
