Snapdragon 845 reportedly to be made by Samsung

 The Samsung Galaxy S8 has only started seeing the world and Samsung have already begun work for the next flagship chipset that Qualcomm would like to call – the Snapdragon 845.

As per The Korean Herald, Samsung is developing the next generation flagship chipset along with Qualcomm. Once the development is complete, the chipset will be reportedly manufactured by Samsung or Taiwan’s TSMC. The manufacturers could employ the 7 nm manufacturing process that will have better power efficiency and performance numbers.

Based on the technological patents, Samsung could build the next generation of its Exynos chipset for the Samsung line-up of smartphones, particularly the S series and the Note series phones in the Asian markets. That could be also built on the 7nm manufacturing process. The current 8895 chipset is based on the 10nm manufacturing process and is featured on the Galaxy S8 twins.

The current flagship chipset – the SD835 is exclusively manufactured by Samsung on the 10nm manufacturing process and was first featured on the Samsung Galaxy S8. Due to that, other manufacturers like Xiaomi had to wait to get access to the chipset for launching their own flagships. LG even had to ditch the 835 for the older 821 in favour of a timely launch.

Samsung is also working on an 800ppi OLED screen which could see the light of the day in 2017, possibly in the Galaxy Note 8. The OLED panel will be the 7th generation of technology and will have improved productivity in terms of visual rendering.
