Xiaomi Mi 6X launched with AI-based dual rear cameras in China
The Mi 6X is the successor to Mi 5X which was unveiled in India as Mi A1 with stock Android UI.
After months of leaks and speculations, Xiaomi has finally launched its Mi 6X smartphone in China. The Mi 6X is the successor to Mi 5X which was unveiled in India as Mi A1 with stock Android UI.
As for the specifications, the Mi 6X sports a 5.99-inches display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution (1080p). This is similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. At the heart, the smartphone runs octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2Ghz clubbed with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. It runs MIUI 9.5 out-of-the-box, based on Android Oreo 8.1. The smartphone comes in five colour variants — Red, Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Black.
In terms of optics, the handset's cameras are AI-powered with features such as smart scene detection and smart image recognition. The Mi 6X aka Mi A2 sports a dual rear camera setup — One with 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor with a f/1.75 aperture and the other with 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with the same aperture. It also features PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, the smartphone boasts a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with a f/1.75 aperture and a LED flash.
The device is backed by a 3010mAh battery and support QuickCharge 3.0, which the company claims can charge up to 50 per cent of battery in about 30 minutes. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Miracast, IR emitter. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope and a proximity sensor.
As far the pricing is concerned, the 4GB/32GB variant costs CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,900), whereas the 4GB/64GB model is priced at CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs 19,000). The 6GB/128GB variant, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of Rs CNY 1,999(approximately Rs 21,000). The Mi 6X will go on sale in China starting from April 27. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to debut in India soon with the device touted as Mi A2, although it is not confirmed as yet.
