The latest update has been downloaded by 18 percent of all Windows 10 users over the past month, which is a remarkable feat for Microsoft.

Whenever Microsoft releases an update for its latest OS, it is generally ignored by its customers in for the existing software’s stable build. Even though Microsoft insists its users get the latest updates for their PC’s OS, the updates generally reach a fewer than intended, even after carrier and OEM barriers. However, something miraculous has happened with the latest update for Windows 10.

The Creators Update for Windows was released last month for selected devices. According to data from AdDuplex, the latest update has been downloaded by 18 percent of all Windows 10 users over the past month, which is a remarkable feat for Microsoft. Last year Anniversary update package still runs on 75.4 per cent of Windows 10 computers while the original release runs on 1.6 per cent of computers.

While the exact reason behind the wider adoption is not known, it seems that the WannaCry ransomware was a major factor in pushing people to get the latest update for improved security. The world has already seen the consequences of running an older OS without updated system security, which makes it a better option to get the latest update with an improved Windows Defender.
