Microsoft urges users to install this security update immediately
The update fixes a security flaw in some Internet Explorer versions that allowed remote attackers to run malicious code on devices.
Microsoft has urged users of popular operating system Windows 10 to install a new security patch. According to the software giant, a security flaw in some Internet Explorer versions allowed remote attackers to run malicious code on their device. Users of affected devices may be tricked into clicking on Email links or by visiting unsafe web pages.
“An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could take control of an affected system,” said Microsoft. While the company revealed that the vulnerability was actively being taken advantage of, details of the flaw had not been made public.
About 7 per cent of all browser users run affected versions of Internet Explorer 9, 10 and 11. The infection exists on all supported versions of operating systems like Windows 7, 8.1, 10 and even some Windows Server versions.
The security patch can be installed through Windows update. The patch also includes a fix for Windows Defender that fixes a bug that renders the tool unusable. The company claims that no separate action is required through Windows Defender.
