Super Mario Run

Forty million downloads and counting. We are talking about Super Mario Run’s resounding success in just four days of its release on App Store. Tech world can’t help but marvel at the record breaking popularity of the gaming app from the veterans in the scene, Nintendo. The astounding chase is said to have outpaced Pokemon Go download in its initial days.

Deciphering a press release from the house of Nintendo, Techcrunch writes, “The company says that in addition to its top ranking in the ‘free’ chart of the App Store in 140 different global markets (of the 150 where it’s available), it’s also now in the top 10 ranking for best grossing games in 100 different markets.”

Within just three days of the launch, the app could drum up revenue to the tune of $14 million. Though the app is free to download, it turns paid if the user needs to unlock its entire features, which comes at $10. The new game is looked upon as one of Nintendo’s attempts to make Mario turn active beyond non-Nintendo hardware ambit and be a prominent player in the mobile gaming market with its franchises.

The Android release of Super Mario Run can be expected next year.
