Facebook has unveiled a new chat app to connect various departments within an office. Called the Workplace Chat, the app will be available for Android, iOS, and PCs.

The app will be linked to the Facebook Workplace and will aid real-time messaging between employees. They can either collaborate for a group project and chat within a  chat group. Employees will also be able to live video sessions for discussing certain topics.

The desktop app is what Facebook is primarily focusing on as employees the majority of time on their desktops rather than mobile devices.  Workplace Chat includes video chat with a co-worker or group, screen sharing, and file sharing. It also includes features like message reactions, @mentions, and GIfs so as to keep the conversation fun.

Facebook is currently working on Workplace Chat to include support for group video chat on a desktop and on mobile, which will enable people to click a button and instantly start a video call for their team.
