Facebook wants to connect communities in India
The social media giant revealed its plans to connect communities and ensure women safety through the platform.
Facebook wants to focus on connected communities for its millions of users. The social media platform intends to connect families and friends in a sort of community where everyone can help each other.
At the “A place to connect” event in Mumbai, Product manager Adit Vaidya said that Facebook’s intention is to connect people and bring them into communities. This will aid easy dissemination of useful information to millions of people on Facebook. He stated that women in a particular city could come together in groups and share their knowledge about upholding their safety in public spaces. He also threw limelight on the benefits of the Safety check feature on Facebook, which has helped many deliver their message of being safe in the event of a calamity.
The company also announced the launch of India-specific filters and stickers on the Facebook Camera. People in cities like Mumbai and Delhi will get to use geocentric filters and stickers on the Facebook Camera, which can be posted later on the timeline.
Adit also said that Reactions are getting popular day-by-day on Facebook (300 billion reactions have been used till now) and the most used reaction on Facebook posts is the “Love” reaction. In order to let more people lap up the benefits of Reactions, the company will be releasing the Reactions feature on the Facebook Lite app as well.
The event also showcased various products of Facebook – Facebook Live, Facebook 360, Facebook Lite, Whatsapp, Facebook Camera, Instagram and Oculus VR.
