Google recently confirmed the rollout of its RCS messaging option to users in the UK and France. Hiroshi Lockheimer recently revealed the information in a tweet. The feature started working almost a month ago on the Pixel devices, but now the rollout has made it possible for every android in the regions to use it through the Google Messaging app.
We'd love work with our US carrier partners on RCS. Trying!!!! PS: RCS now fully rolled out in UK and FR. Next wave of countries soon.

Lockheimer’s tweet was actually a critical reply to an article which criticised US cellular carriers for ‘lack of effort’ in rolling out the RCS unified messaging interface for Android users.
Though wanting to work with US carriers, Lockheimer mentioned that the rollout would hit more countries soon. Whether the US is in that list of countries remains to be seen.
