With the launch of 'Fit India Movement,' health is finally on the national agenda. A fitness enthusiast and the No.1 health influencer as per GOQii’s Top 30 Indian Health and Fitness Influencers for 2019, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is now focused on improving India’s healthcare that will include physical activities, sports and nutrition into the daily lives of citizens. This is not another campaign, but a movement that will shift the focus from curative to preventive healthcare in both; rural and urban areas, right from schools to organizations, putting India on the path of healthy living.

As per GOQii’s India Fit Report, chronic diseases in India are on a rise. Lifestyle diseases such as Cholestrol has increased from 10 per cent in 2017 to 14 per cent in 2018 and Blood Pressure has increased from 9 per cent in 2017 to 12 per cent in 2018. Further, 25 per cent of India's population suffers from a constant cough and cold and 11 per cent of population falls sick more than thrice in a year.

While there is increasing awareness on the importance of preventive healthcare as well as affordability, the main challenge is lack of motivation. This is where preventive health tech start-ups such as GOQii are building a holistic health ecosystem for consumers. Technologies such as IoT and Artificial Intelligence coupled with personalized doctors services are empowering users by enabling them to understand their data and draw out their health goals accordingly. GOQii analyzes users’ data to improve services and meet their needs. Basis the research, GOQii instituted India Steps Challenge, a first-of-its-kind nationwide survey to encourage Indians to walk and managed to beat Stanford University’s average of India’s step count by 118 per cent! GOQii also found that people rely on unverified health information found online and in order to tackle this, recently partnered with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and launched the GOQii India Health Quiz, a nationwide initiative to break myths and educate the masses with the right information on health. Both these initiatives have proven that awareness and motivation go a long way in shifting a user’s perception and approach to their health.

Founded in 2014, GOQii's preventive healthcare ecosystem that combines remote personalized coaching with fitness technology caters to all healthcare needs an individual may have through its coaches, doctors, and nutritionists, partnerships with insurance companies and diagnostic labs, health food and provides masterclasses on lifestyle and disease management.
