JIO GigaFiber offers 1gbps speed, 600 channels and landline connection in one plan
Reliance has plans to lay the groundwork for GigaFiber connections in 1,600 cities across India.
Reliance unveiled the Jio GigaFiber at its last annual general meeting. Now the company is likely to launch the service soon. The GigaFiber service will combine broadband, landline and TV connections and be made available to the public in both prepaid and postpaid plans.
If the plans for GigaFiber are competitively priced, which is something Jio could definitely do, the plans could be massive disruptors of the network market due to the single plan offer covering perhaps the three most used sources of multimedia and communication.
A recent report in The Hindu suggests that Reliance could launch the service on August 12. Jio also recently announced their plans to lay the FTTH (Fibre-to-the-home) groundworks in 1,600 cities across India.
Reliance hasn’t revealed any final price for the service yet, but they have been running trial runs for a few months now.
The GigaFiber broadband will give the user speeds of 1GB per second and the TV services will offer 600 channels.
