Xiaomi dominates Indian smartphone market for eighth consecutive quarter

South Korean mobile maker Samsung saw a decline in sales and market share in the country.

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi opened its 1000th service centre here on Wednesday.

Technology market analyst firm, Canalys published their research of the Indian smartphone market for the second quarter of this year. And, as per the report, Xiaomi sits at the top for the eighth quarter in a row. Apart from that, Vivo increased its sales by 63 per cent, while sister companies Oppo and Realme also grew significantly.

South Korean mobile maker Samsung saw a decline in sales and market share in the country to come in for the second spot.

The increasing domination of top brands results for the top five companies being responsible for 88 per cent of the total sales, compared with the 80 per cent last year. Overall, the mobile market has experienced a slight decline of 0.5%.

The research even projects Vivo to displace Samsung by the end of 2019.
