E3 is mere weeks away but we are already getting confirmed release dates for games coming out next year. Ubisoft recently announced Far Cry 5, developed by the same time that gave us the third and fourth mainline games in the series. It’s the first game in the franchise to be set in America as players get to explore the dangerous and twisted world of Hope County, Montana.

Its not clear if the game will be taking the series into a new direction, but we do know that it comes with several new features. Building upon the co-op modes available in previous games, you will now be able to play the entire game with a friend. Furthermore, you will be able to customise the gender and skin colour of the protagonist, allowing you to play as a woman for the first time in the series.

Players control a new junior deputy and will face a doomsday cult known as The Project at Eden’s Gate. Their leader is a man named Joseph Seed who will serve as the primary antagonist for the game.

All sorts of guns and explosives will be available to you in addition to a wider variety of melee weapons like pitch forks, sledgehammers and baseball bats. You will be able to fight enemy planes in thrilling aerial dog fights and drive muscle cars, ATVs, boats and big rigs. The best feature of Far Cry Primal, the ability to recruit animals such as bears or cougars to help you takedown enemies will be making a return. In addition to all of the above, a map editor will also be a part of the full game. We are bound to see the entire scope of the game at E3 to give us a clearer picture. Far Cry 5 is scheduled to launch on February 27, 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. As expected, it will support both PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio.
