OnePlus 7T Pro? Here's why we can't wait for the flagship killer
Our wish list of what we hope will feature in the upcoming OnePlus 7T flagship smartphone.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is arguably the best smartphone available in the market nowadays. Coupled with insane specs and an attractive price tag, it puts practically every Android flagship to shame. This year, OnePlus has employed a different strategy. Ever since the first OnePlus smartphone, the Chinese-based smartphone giant has launched two handsets biannually; however, this time, they switched their game around and introduced three products that have absolutely disrupted the smartphone market.
The OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G have taken the world by storm and this has led many to believe that the company will be employing a different strategy by not launching a product in the second half of the year.
While the OnePlus 7 Pro is a resounding hit, its sibling, the OnePlus 7 could have been skipped if you have bought any OnePlus smartphone last year. It offered an incremental upgrade over the OnePlus 6T and there is a high possibility that OnePlus may add a 7T to its arsenal in a bid to strengthen its portfolio further.
The OnePlus 7T could also get a higher-end variant in the form of a OnePlus 7T Pro and both could launch in the October to November period. Here is what we expect and hope will come with these upcoming handsets.
Improved Processor
The OnePlus 7 is a speedy device and if the brand actually does launch it, you can expect to feature Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC — the Snapdragon 855+ in the OnePlus 7T/7T Pro. This newly released chipset will add a timely boost in performance and paired with an enhanced GPU, we see OnePlus going all out with this. For the 5G variant, OnePlus will add a separate modem and with there already being a 5G version of the OnePlus 7 Pro, it is pretty much given that there will be a OnePlus 7T Pro 5G variant on offer.
Faster refresh rates
The OnePlus 7 Pro came with a 90Hz display and we expect OnePlus to add 120Hz refresh rate on its upcoming device. The ASUS ROG Phone II already comes with this display technology so it’s not unheard of. The OnePlus 7T Pro will be a visual beast with this in tow and it will make the handset a lot smoother and allow the high-end internals to perform at its ultimate best. While we are wishing, we would like an adaptive refresh rate as it would aide in power consumption as well.
Wireless Charging
OnePlus has so far shied away from adding wireless charging on its devices and we expect the next flagship to come with this feature. This will put it on par with the other Android flagships, some of which are in their second generation with wireless charging. There could also be bilateral wireless charging, a feature that Samsung and Huawei have bragging rights for. Apart from this, the OnePlus fans will have their share of bragging rights and even though this is a minor feature, it could propel its smartphone sales pretty significantly.
Improved Optics
When it comes to cameras, the OnePlus handsets have faced a lot of criticism and if OnePlus aims to keep up with the best in the business, then its camera performance needs to be stepped up. There is no doubt that OnePlus has quality sensors, but it’s the software department where the handset lacks. If OnePlus continues to fine-tune its software, then it can easily step up to the likes of the Samsungs and Huaweis of the world. Also, adding an improved 64MP sensor could also help its cause and reports about brands toying with the idea of adding this sensor are starting to gain steam. So if OnePlus does add the 64MP sensor to its OnePlus 7T line-up, it could have some beastly performances on its hands.
Improved Battery
With every handset wishlist, an improved battery is always at the top. Although the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a respectable 4000mAh battery, we would prefer if the brand added a little bit more. The brand should enhance the battery in order to support the massive display that features the 120Hz refresh rate along with the OS that has the potential to drain the battery significantly. If OnePlus added a 5000mAh battery without forsaking size, then it will definitely be a top-selling handset no matter the features.
Price
The OnePlus 7 Pro is well priced and if the brand managed to price it the same without adding additional costs with the increase in features, it would make for an alluring option and a worthy successor to the OnePlus 7 Pro.
