Hidden Android tricks every smartphone user should know
These tricks will help speed up your Android handset when you feel it has gotten a bit sluggish.
It is no secret that Android is a solid operating system. Apart from offering a wide availability of customization capabilities; Android doesn’t need much to keep it in tip-top running condition. However, if you do feel your handset getting sluggish, here are a few tricks you can do to get it back up to speed.
Rebooting your handset
The first and most useful tip is a simple reboot. Yes, rebooting your smartphone or tablet does, in fact, work wonders especially if it hasn’t been done in a long time. The easiest way to do it is by keeping the power button pressed until the reboot/restart option appears on the screen. Rebooting your device once a month will work wonders for you as it will increase the overall speed that was once available.
Deleting bloatware
If you have used an Android handset, especially in the budget or lower midrange category, chances are that there is a ton of bloatware. Also, if your handset is old, then there is a chance that a lot of unnecessary apps have been accumulated over the months. Getting rid of this bloatware/junkware will certainly speed up your handset.
This is where CCleaner comes to your rescue. This is one of the best apps that are out there for cleaning up the unwanted junk. This app should be used every few weeks to speed up your device. Apart from CCleaner, there are other apps that can help you and these are AVG Cleaner, Avast Cleanup & Boost and Norton Clean.
Limiting background app processes
This is one of the major reasons your Android device runs slow. While stopping this has its advantages, you lose out on the speed of switching between apps.
If you want to do it, here is how this is done:
- Go to Settings (Android 8 and later)
- Select About Phone
- Hit on Build number 7 times
- Enter your password to make the change
- Go back to the previous screen to find Developer options at the bottom
- Under Developer options, go to Background process limit and choose the option
To get the best experience from enabling the app, choose No background processes. If you happen to use one or two apps frequently, then enabling those in the background will enhance your power user experience.
Disabling of animations
While animations may look nice on your device, disabling them will certainly help speed up your smartphone or tablet. Again you need Developer mode to enable it.
If you want to do it, here is how this is done:
- Go to Settings (Android 8 and later)
- Select About Phone
- Hit on Build number 7 times
- Enter your password to make the change
- Go back to the previous screen to find Developer options at the bottom
