ROG Phone II Sale: Asus apologises to fans after falling short of phones to sell

The company said it would try its best to increase production capacity for the upcoming sales.

The phone is even the first device to use the new snapdragon 855+ processor by Qualcomm.

Asus sold over 10,000 ROG Phone II units in just 73 seconds during their first sale yesterday, as reported by the company’s Weibo page. The sale was one of the many flash sales of the phone that will come to China.

The sale didn’t just do well, it emptied the company’s stock of the ready-to-sell ROG Phone II devices. As a consequence, some fans who were among the 2.5 million reservations for the ROG Phone II were not able to grab one.

Asus later on apologized after the incident to the fans. The company said it would try its best to increase production capacity for the upcoming sales, which are scheduled to take place on August 4, August 7 and August 12.

The ROG Phone II is very popular despite of it being a device targeted only at hardcore gamers and not the general public. This is likely because the power that the phone offers and the recent increase in gaming among generations due to the success of Battle Royale titles like PUBG and Fortnite.

The makers of PUBG, Tencent even worked with Asus to design the ROG Phone II and the phone is also available in a ‘Tencent edition’ at a cheaper price.

It remains to be seen if subsequent sales of the device can meet the sale requirements.
