Design of one of 2019's most hotly anticipated smartphones surfaces
The upcoming Android smartphone will buck the square camera hump trend in favour of a circular design.
With the second half of 2019 underway, we expect to see smartphone manufacturers unveil their newer flagships. While handsets from major brands such as Apple, Samsung, and Google have already leaked. One big brand was left out. Now it is the turn of Huawei to finally make an appearance and the Mate 30 leaks have officially begun.
The Mate 30 Pro plans are underway despite the ban and we finally have leaks that show off the new design. When the Mate 20 launched last year, it was a breakout success as it came with features that put rivals to shame. The handset came with a 7nm Kirin chipset that’s similar to what Apple uses on the iPhone and included a host of features that weren’t available on Android flagships at the time. One of the handset’s biggest traits was the triple lens setup on the rear and it was placed in a central position and housed in a square camera hump. The iPhone 11 and Google Pixel 4 are both expected to come with this design trend and it shows that Huawei was ahead of the curve when it comes to smartphone design. Google has already teased its Pixel 4 device showing that it will come with a similar design to Huawei’s Mate 20 series.
With the Mate 30, Huawei will buck the trend of the square camera hump and this time, the cameras will be housed in a circular hump. As per a leak by Slashleaks, the rear glass panel of the Mate 30 has surfaced which shows off a circular camera module instead of a square one.
From these images, we also see the Huawei and Leica branding as found on other Huawei handsets and this is a strong probability that we are looking at the brand’s final design.
