Apple will be undertaking a new strategy with their upcoming iPhones.

The news that Apple will be adding 5G connectivity to its 2020 iPhones is almost guaranteed. With Apple purchasing the smartphone modem business from Intel, Apple has been placing greater importance on its consumers wants than what it feels necessary. In 2020, most, if not all Android flagships will come with 5G connectivity and if Apple doesn’t offer it, they will be left in the lurch and in the process giving its loyal fan base an opportunity to switch camps.

Details about the 2019 iPhone seem to cement the notion that Apple will skip 5G this year on the iPhone 11 series and with rumours about the 2020 iPhones leaking in plenty, it appears Apple is intentionally skipping flagship features to save it for next year’s handsets. The news that the 2020 iPhones will come with 5G leads to an obvious question — why should you waste your money on the 2019 iPhone 11?

Forbes provides an apt answer for this query by stating, “And the reasons to wait for a 2020 iPhone don’t stop there. While the iPhone 11 will be more of the same, Apple is completely redesigning (and resizing) the iPhone range next year, upgrading the displays and giving them the all-new camera tech it pulled from the iPhone 11 at the last minute. Touch ID may also make a comeback.

For those who still think the iPhone 11 will be enough for them (and it has some compelling features), there’s also another factor to consider. Kuo states that Apple’s primary motivation to push all 2020 iPhones to 5G is because customers will deem it essential, so trying to sell your 4G iPhone 11 in a few years time is highly unlikely to give you the great trade-in prices normally associated with iPhones.”

This gives us one more reason why the 2019 iPhone is just not worth the hassle and save your hard-earned cash for next year’s iPhone 12 seems like the smart choice.
