5G version of Oppo Reno 2 with periscope zoom lens surfaces on TENAA
Oppo Reno 5G added a Qualcomm X50 5G modem to the 10x zoom hardware.
Oppo revealed three Reno 2 phones last week and none of them was the successor to the Oppo Reno 10x zoom. However, the 5G version is working its way through TENAA. For those who don’t know, TENAA stands for Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center.
Anyhow, the original Oppo Reno 5G added a Qualcomm X50 5G modem to the 10x zoom hardware. At the moment it is unclear whether the Reno 2 will be split into 4G or 5G versions.
The Oppo Reno 2 5G has a similar quad-camera setup like its other models. The third lens from the top looks clearly like a periscope module. The same will give it a proper optical zoom. Full specs of the device have not been published by the TENAA and it’s difficult to say if its 5x again or the company has updated its focal length.
The fourth lens, we are guessing it could be a depth sensor for portrait mode shots as Oppo is yet to launch a device with a dedicated macro cam. Recently, Realme’s quad-cam phone Realme 5 pro featured a dedicated macro shooter.
The 5G model can also sport a large 6.6-inch screen just as the Reno 10x zoom. The company is yet to confirm a date for the official unveiling of its Reno 2 flagship handset.
