Google's Rick Osterloh confirms Pixel 2 launch time and pricing
Rick Osterloh at MWC 2017 said that the Pixel smartphone was not a one-time experiment and the successor is in the offing.
Google’s new hardware lead Rick Osterloh revealed some new details about company’s flagship smartphone Pixel’s successor. Osterloh at MWC 2017 said that the smartphone was not a one-time experiment and the successor is in the offing.
In an interview with Android Pit, Osterloh stated that next-gen Pixel devices are on their way, however no time frame of their launch was confirmed. "There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So, you can count on us to follow it. You can (also) count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now," said Rick Osterloh
This indicates that Google will follow Apple’s pattern of launching its smartphone every year. Last year the company unveiled its smartphone in October and is expected to bring the Pixel successor to the table during the same time this year as well.
Osterloh also refused all reports of Pixel 2 being an medium range smartphone, and said that the device will feature in the premium price bracket. There are also reports claiming that the Pixel 2 will cost even more than the original device. The next offering from Google is expected to bring upgrades and reduce bugs that were found on the first smartphone. The phone is tipped to feature a faster processor and an improved camera.
