Bugs has been revealed to be SMS Wipe & Breaking Safetynet.

A few days back Xiaomi had finally released Android 8.1 Oreo for its sole Android One device the A1. Those owning the handset could download the update via OTA. However, there was a bug in the update that would delete a user’s SMS history.

According to an official post, Xiaomi has now stopped seeding the update. Xiaomi says, “Bugs has been revealed to be SMS Wipe & Breaking SafetyNet. Will post updates in the future.”

They also added a post about the bug by stating, “SMS Messages Wiped out after upgrading to 8.1. It is highly advisable to manually backup your SMS by Manually Triggering the Google backup thru ADB on PC or use any 3rd party SMS Backup App like SMS Backup and Restore.”

For those not in the know, Xiaomi had started rolling out the update and it comes loaded with the June security patches. The update weighs 1.1GB and it appears to be rolling out globally with users from India and the Philippines getting the OTA (over-the-air) update. Apart from the OTA update, users can also flash the Fastboot ROM.

If you cannot wait for the OTA update, you can download the Fastboot ROM here.

As of now, the update is on hold, we will update you when Xiaomi starts seeding Android 8.1 Oreo for the Xiaomi A1 again.
