Samsung has undoubtedly made its mark in the premium smartphone segment with its efficient devices in the Galaxy S and Note series. The company is known to roll out some never-seen-before stuff in the market – like the first phablet and curved edge display phone. Once again, Samsung is expected to do the same by introducing its foldable smartphone which is expected to come out next year.

The concept has been in talks for a long time and, now that its arrival is nearing, we have stumbled upon this report that the South Korean brand will be sharing the foldable display technology with Chinese brands OPPO and Xiaomi. The company wants to establish the ecosystem of this new type of smartphone and ultimately it will be the sole supplier of the tech. No doubt, sharing this mechanism will result in Samsung giving rise to its own competitors but it will be earning hefty revenue by supplying the foldable panels.

Samsung has been mostly tight-lipped about the foldable smartphone technology while giving us just a few hints about it being in the works. This year, we came to know that Samsung representatives had unveiled the concept in some meeting but no photos or details emerged about the hardware. The first smartphone which will showcase this revolutionary technology will perhaps be named as Galaxy X, as per earlier reports.

While OPPO has been launching a bunch of interesting products in the market, Xiaomi has become an undisputed player with its feature-packed and affordable smartphones. When the brands start receiving foldable displays from Samsung, they may emerge as tough contenders owing to their popular amongst the masses. If speculations are to be believed, Samsung’s foldable device is nearly ready and it might be going through its final stages of development.
