Samsung's Galaxy X might feature a pressure sensitive display
The upcoming smartphone will be made using a flexible material which will enable the phone to bend when force is applied.
Rumours of Samsung’s foldable smartphone (Galaxy X) are doing rounds for quite sometime now. But now a new patent from Samsung reveals new information about the alleged smartphone.
The upcoming smartphone will be made using a flexible material which will enable the phone to bend when force is applied. The patent suggests that the pressure applied on the display will also have a pressure sensitive display to determine the force is applied on the screen. The feature was first seen on Apple’s iPhone 6s dubbed as the 3D Touch.
Earlier, a patent from Samsung was spotted by LetsGoDigital. The patent shows a device that looks like a thinner version of the ZTE Axon M. It suggests a smartphone features a hinge that connects the two screens using a hinge that also allows the phone to be closed.
Unlike the Axon M, Samsung’s attempt offers a screen protection even when the display is closed. The smartphone seems to feature a sensor that will calculate the angle between the first and second screen. This allows the device to know when the second screen in not in use, with the screen turning off to save the battery life.
The patent also shows both displays featuring a camera and speaker, though it’s possible that there is a third camera and speaker on the rear panel. We might also get to see a stylus for the device.
Samsung is expected to mention the phone during CES 2018, which is just weeks away. We might see the new concept alongside the Galaxy S9.
