Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL to get 3 major Android updates
Previous Google flagships got only two major OS updates.
Google is changing a lot of things with the new Pixel 2 smartphones, Apart from the youthful and vibrant looks, the Pixel 2 smartphones will get three major OS updates, which makes them a tempting buy for Android fans.
The Google Pixel first generation was promised two major updates like all previous Nexus-branded smartphones. However, with Google’s revamped policy, the Pixel 2 will get to see Android P, Android Q and even Android R. that’s something that the Pixel 2’s rivals won’t be able to deliver unless the manufacturers re-think their marketing strategies.
We see this decision as a move to counter Apple’s longer support of its iPhone models. For example, Apple received a lot of praise for announcing the iOS 11 update for its four years old iPhone 5S. On the other hand, Google’s 2013 Nexus is stuck on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. With a longer support cycle, Google’s Android phones could start seeing a bit of favour from those who are willing to jump to Android from iOS or other smartphone platforms. Let’s hope that other Android manufacturers also follow Google’s suit.
