Being an important market to HTC, we will continue to invest in India in the right segments and at the right time.

Despite rumours of HTC’s upcoming flagship, the U12, making an appearance on the Internet every now and then, the company has launched its last year’s premium flagship offering in India. Called the U11+, the highlight of the smartphone is its 6-inch 18:9 Super LCD display, which is a first for any HTC device. The U11+ will be priced at Rs 56,990.

As with the U11, the U11+ is built around a Snapdragon 835 chipset, which was the latest chipset available from Qualcomm when it was unveiled globally last year. HTC hasn’t clarified yet but the U11+ should come with 6GB of RAM as standard, considering the smaller U11 came with only 6GB of RAM. It is also expected to come with 128GB of storage as standard. What’s new, however, is the presence of Android Oreo 8.0 as its operating system, thus making it the first flagship smartphone in India to come with Google’s latest Android OS.

Since it sports a narrow-bezel 18:9 display, the U11+ shifts its fingerprint scanner to the rear. There’s a 12MP rear camera with a f/1.7 aperture like the standard U11, which HTC claims to offer better performance than that of the U11. The 8MP front camera is retained from the U11. It also retains the U11’s Edge Sense feature, which allows users to squeeze for accessing certain shortcuts and functions on the smartphone. Since it comes with a bigger display, HTC has put a bigger 3930mAh battery to keep it alive.

HTC will make the U11+ available in the Amazing Silver colour initially, after which the company will roll out the Ceramic Black colour sometime later.
