Honor Play gaming smartphone launched for Rs 19,999
The Play is built around a Kirin 970 chip aided along with AI features and notched- display design.
Honor has been teasing the Play for a pretty long time in the country and has finally launched it today. Slated to be a performance-driven smartphone meat to appease gamers, the Honor Play starts at Rs 19,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant and goes up to Rs 23,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant. The smartphone will be an Amazon exclusive.
The Honor Play is supposed to be a midrange smartphone with flagship-level internals. The Play has a metal unibody design with a fingerprint sensor at the back. The Play sports a 6.3-inch full HD+ display IPS LCD with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Since it’s supposed to be a gaming smartphone, Honor has built it around Huawei’s flagship 2.36GHz Kirin 970 chipset, which is either aided by 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Internal storage stands uniform at 64GB.
The phone comes with Huawei’s proprietary GPU Turbo feature, which Honor claims can improve GPU performance by 60 per cent while eating up to 30 per cent lesser power on graphics-intensive titles. The AI features also offer 4D Smart Shock, which synchronises vibrations with in-game activities such as shooting or colliding while driving. The chips' NPU also allows for AI 3D audio effects on headphones plugged in via the 3.5mm headphone jack.
For the optics, the Honor Play sports a 16MP + 2MP dual camera setup for the rear, backed by AI to enhance photos. The 16MP front camera also uses AI to enhance selfies, alongside offering portrait photos with 3D lighting effects. The front camera also aids the Face Unlock feature. The Honor Play is kept alive by a 3750mAh battery, which is aided by Honor’s fast charging.
