Samsung is widely expected to debut a 'Lite†variant of the Galaxy S10 and it will come with some interesting features.

The people over at SamMobile appear to have uncovered the potential design of the Galaxy S10 Lite in a patent.

Earlier this year, Samsung announced the Galaxy S10 lineup that comprised of the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S10e. Now, there is growing evidence that the South Korean-based smartphone giant is planning on expanding on this series by launching a ‘Lite’ version of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and it will come with flagship specifications.

This upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will feature a Snapdragon 855 chipset, 8GB of RAM, a massive 6.7-inch OLED display and triple rear camera configuration. And the latest leak previews what the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will look like once it’s made official.

The people over at SamMobile appear to have uncovered the potential design of the Galaxy S10 Lite in a patent that has been published recently which “claims the ornamental design for a mobile phone as show and described”.

The report states, “The patent reveals a device that looks exactly like the Galaxy S10+ from the front, with dual front-facing cameras located on the top-right edge of the display. At the back, there’s a dual-camera setup with its sensors placed vertically in the centre and an LED flash to its right, which is exactly how the camera assembly is laid out on a Galaxy S9+. In fact, it looks pretty similar to a Galaxy S8 prototype that Samsung had tested with dual rear cameras back in 2017, although that prototype had its LED flash and heart rate sensor sitting below the two camera sensors.”

A point to keep in mind is that even though a patent is filed, it may not actually make it on to retail shelves.

A related report by Forbes states, “That said a claim on design elements is a much stronger bet than an esoteric camera lens or hinge fixture. There’s also the connection between what is on show in the patent and other leaks around a potential Galaxy S10 Lite.

These include online specs of an as-yet-unreleased Galaxy handset, inside sources reporting new model numbers and certification by Brazilian authorities.”

As of now, the information surrounding this isn’t about model numbers but over the branding of the handset. The Internet is assuming that the Lite handset will fall in with the S Series and will probably launch by the end of this year. However, this doesn’t lineup with launch schedules of the Galaxy S family.

This could mean that it is a high-end handset from Samsung’s A-Series lineup. While the A-Series devices do not get the adoration they deserve, they make up a major aspect of Samsung Mobile’s volume strategy. Launching a high-end Galaxy A smartphone will definitely boost sales yet preserve the marketing power that the S Series handsets command. Or, this launch could help the weakening sales of the S Series get a nice timely boost.
