Doogee to be the first to bring in-display fingerprint sensor
The Doogee V comes with curved front and rear and looks like a blend of a Galaxy S9 and an iPhone X.
Many manufacturers have been striving to bring the in-display fingerprint sensor into the mainstream, but unfortunately, no one has brought it for mass consumption. This also led industry giants to develop FaceID and facial recognition tech (less secure) and Samsung and Huawei are said to be working on their own implementation of FaceID and are expected to introduce it this year.
But not all companies have given up on the in-display fingerprint technologies — Qualcomm is working with Synaptics to bring the technology to life. Known tipster Evan Blass tweeted a picture of an upcoming Doogee smartphone that will incorporate a fingerprint sensor underneath a 6.2-inch display. The image also suggests that the design is inspired by Apple’s iPhone X. The Doogee V will come with curved front and rear and looks like a blend of a Galaxy S9 and an iPhone X.

As for the in-display fingerprint sensor, Samsung couldn’t tuck it in the Galaxy Note 8, and Apple gave up on it for its iPhone X. So what makes anyone think that Doogee will get it right? There have been several issues reported during the testing with the speed of the sensor and display’s performance.
Synaptics has already confirmed it is ready for mass production of the in-display fingerprint sensor and will be bringing it to major manufacturers this year. Vivo is expected to be one of them. How the new technology shapes up remains to be seen. Doogee might not be a household name, but it’s still exciting to see innovative techniques making their way into the mainstream.
