HMD Global-backed Nokia is expected to introduce its Nokia 8 flagship smartphone sometime soon.

HMD Global-backed Nokia took the market by a pleasant surprise, when the Finnish technology giant announced its plans of foraying into the smartphone market. The device-manufacturer began the year by reviving its classic feature phone, Nokia 3310 at the MWC, event held in Barcelona. The firm later went on to introduce Nokia 3, 5 and 6 smartphones, thereby targeting the mid-range segment. Finally, the company is heavily-speculated to conclude this year with the introduction of its high-end smartphones, and competitor to the leading flagship devices — Nokia 8 and 9. This article particularly talks about Nokia 8, its specifications, release date and pricing as per the leaks that have flooded up on the internet till date.

DESIGN: The upcoming Nokia 8 smartphone is expected to look like a traditional Nokia smartphone, with regularly-sized bezels and an aluminium unibody design, further complimented with rounded edges. In terms of dimensions, the device is expected to measure 151.55 x 73.7mm in size and will come in the following colour variants: Black, Copper, Copper-Gold, Silver, and Blue. The official Nokia branding will most probably appear on both, rear and front sides of the device. The smartphone is also expected to sport an IP68-certification, thereby making the smartphone dust and water resistant.

INTERNAL SPECIFICATIONS: The smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip, and will either come in 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM option, further accompanied with 64GB of internal storage and an added expandable microSD card-slot option. The smartphone will sport a massive 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charging technology and will run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.

DISPLAY: The handset is rumored to feature a 5.3-inch display with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution and an added layer of 2.5D glass. The physical home button will come integrated with a fingerprint scanner on the front panel of the smartphone.

CAMERA: The upcoming Nokia flagship smartphone is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup, complimented by Dual-LED flash, comprising of 13-megapixel sensors by Carl Zeiss and an 8-megapixel front shooter for selfie lovers.

RELEASE DATE AND PRICE: Nokia hasn’t made any mention of any specific date as of yet, however; the smartphone is expected to launch on August 16th, at a starting price of $696 or roughly Rs 45,000.
