Samsung Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red edition unveiled in India
The Galaxy S8 burgundy Red edition shares the same specs as the earlier S8 and retails at Rs 49,990.
Samsung India has launched its last year's successful Galaxy S8 in a new Burgundy Red colour variant. This release is coincidental with the Apple’s PRODUCT RED special edition iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, as both were launched in India today.
Since the Apple iPhone 8 was released last September, Samsung also chose to release its earlier flagship S8 in India, which is already quite a year-old phone now. Despite its latest Galaxy S9 already in the market, which was released a couple of months ago, the company chose to follow the trend, which was initially started by Apple. However, this might be an appealing deal to the users who are inclined to buy the earlier Galaxy S8 and S8+ and not willing to spend too much on the current flagship S9. Since the company has also cut prices for these models earlier this month, this along with the new colour option would be an added benefit to the consumer.
The Burgundy Red Galaxy S8 had already been launched in the Korean market last year but wasn’t available elsewhere. Henceforth, Samsung launching this in India indicates that the company is competing against Apple’s special edition phone sales as well. Keep in mind that, Apple’s PRODUCT RED edition serves a purpose (a portion of proceeds for all (PRODUCT) RED purchases go directly to Global Fund HIV/AIDS) unlike Samsung Galaxy S8, which is just another colour variant of the product.
The Galaxy S8 Burgundy Red special edition shares the same specs as the standard S8 and retails at Rs 49,990, which will be available from April 13.
